Eo is a male Grizzly Bear, who is one of Faolan's more recent gyre souls.
Description[]
Eo is a large male Grizzly Bear, with a thick, rough brown pelt with the typical silver-tipped hairs. He has dark brown eyes and a black nose.

Before the Books[]
Eo killed a moose that was threatening a bear and her cub.
Before the books, Eo recorded his sightings in the Cave Before Time along with Fengo and Fionula, a snowy owl and another of Faolan's gyre souls.
Frost Wolf[]
Faolan's body temporarily becomes a bear's when he defends a Skaars circle from an outclanner because of his past life as Eo. Later, when Faolan was dreaming, he realized he was a grizzly bear in his former life. Once again, Faolan is possessed by Eo when saving a bear cub from more outclanners.
Spirit Wolf[]
Faolan has a dream in the chapter, "Another Pelt." Faolan dreams that he is Eo, and is defending a mother grizzly and her cubs from an angry bull moose. He wakes up and discovers the identity of his past life.
Eo reappears in the spirit woods with Fionula and presumably Fengo, all calling Faolan to go west. Faolan continues to think of Eo and Fionula during the journey to the Cave Before Time. Eo and Fionula join Faolan to find Fengo in the depths of the cave.

Eo is mentioned near the beginning of the book, but does not appear.
Trivia[]
- Eo means "dawn" in Greek. This may be a reference to his state as Faolan's past life, or the fact that Eo was the first gyre soul Faolan discovered.
